Author’s Summary: An epistolary re-telling of Sense and Sensibility where the friendship between Elinor Dashwood and Colonel Brandon develops into a romance.
Review:
Before I go any further I should probably disclaim this by saying that, when I first stumbled upon this story, I had no idea who the author was; I only knew that I really wanted to rec it. After finding out, I waffled about reccing it – as a rule, we don’t generally rec each other’s work around here – but it was just too good to pass up and I thought it would be a wonderful addition to this month’s theme week. So,
slytherin_gypsy, I hope you don’t mind.
Told through a series of letters and diary entries, Christopher and Elinor is, to my mind, the way Sense and Sensibility should have gone. Or, at least, the way I wish it had gone. Beginning just like the original with the death of Henry Dashwood (the Dashwood girls’ father), this fic follows Elinor and Christopher through all the trials and tribulations of the novel, only this time with the slow burn of a romance building between them. This doesn’t happen immediately, of course; the friendship between the blooms before the romance does, but it doesn’t take long to realize what a delightful match they would be and that what they might have had elsewhere just wouldn’t compare to what they find in each other.

Title: The Tale of Squire Kristopher and the Black Dragon
Fandom: American Idol
Pairing: Kris Allen/Adam Lambert
Categories: AU, Humor, Romance,
Length: Long (30,000+)
Warnings: Implied Violence and Minor character death
Author on LJ: fictionalcandie

Summary: Killing the dragon is not Kris’s first quest ever, but he thinks probably it’ll end up being his last. (He’s really hoping that at least the eating happens after the dying.)
Review: This is actually a very traditional romance plot, with one *minor* difference. This is a Boy meets dragon story instead of a Boy meets Boy/Girl. It goes a little something like this: Boy meets dragon. Boy falls madly in love with dragon. Dragon follows boy home. They all live happily ever after. Only much more hilarious and complicated, since boy does not realize he's falling madly in love with said dragon (and the dragon doesn't think to mention it during his various attempts to make sure that boy remains shirtless)
Basically this is a hilarious little romance story that you don't have to be super familiar with the American Idol fandom to enjoy.
