In honor of [livejournal.com profile] cheetahanabel leaving us, I decided to break out a couple of my Inception recs.

We'll miss you Cheta!!!

Title: Nothing's Gonna Change My World
Fandom: Inception
Pairing: Arthur/Eames; Cob/Mal
Categories: AU, Established Relationship, First Time, Post-Canon,
Length: Long (20,600)
Warnings: hand-wavy "science" mostly stolen from Fringe.

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] smallacts
Website: n/a

Summary: No matter how many times Eames points out the strangeness of this place, no matter how hard and long he focuses on all the details that are wrong, nothing is shaking, nothing is coming loose. If he was really dreaming, he’d know it by now. This is something else, something he can’t just wake up from.

Review: Universe swap fics are a hard thing to pull off in straight-forward fandoms. In Inception, with the addition of multi-layered dreaming and possibilities for multiple universes within any given story, the distinctions are even harder to draw.

Smallacts does an amazing job of it though, particularly in her characterization of the two Eames, who are both confident but in very different ways. Part of how she manages the distinction is the prioritization of the 'canon' version of Eames and Arthur over the couple from the other Universe.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing, particularly if you like get together fics, but it did leave me hoping for a sequel or prequel, something to get a better handle on the Alternate verse where Mal is still alive and the entire Inception debacle never happened.

This is an interesting and engaging fic, and though it does have some weaknesses as far as character building and flow, it's a great afternoon read for anybody who's interested in something a little different from the usual dreaming alternate universe stories.

Nothing's Gonna Change My World
Title: All We Need Is One More Time
Fandom: Inception
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Categories: AU, Dark, Romance
Length: Medium (6,000)
Warnings: Dark, Bank robberies, Bombs, Murder

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] postcardmystery
Website: n/a
Summary: '10 Bonnie and Clyde. Well, I've already done a (woefully unfinished) 1940's one, might as well do a modern one, too.

Review: This is the story of a two person crime spree that starts with a police station being blown up and ends, at least for a little while, at the Wal-Mart pharmacy.

With tight writing, a fun, if psychotic, plot, and a truly messed up version of Arthur and Eames, this little gem will keep you glued to your screen.
