Title: Equinox
Fandom: Supernatural / Time Traveler's Wife
Pairing: Castiel/Dean Winchester
Categories: amnesia, crossover, fusion, kids, mystery, time-travel
Length: Medium (12,115 words)
Warnings: Per author: "Mentions of sex, potentially underaged depending on your state or country of residence!"

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] luchia13
Website: [livejournal.com profile] fic_of_lu / [archiveofourown.org profile]luchia

Author Summary: In which Castiel is the weird time-traveling freak who just might be the love of Dean Winchester's life.

Review: A fusion with The Time Traveler's Wife, in that Castiel keeps popping into Dean's life at odd moments, much to Dean's confusion and consternation. At first glance, this story seems like a total AU, but the further along you get, the closer it comes in line with canon. It has a fabulous Dean POV and voice, as he meets Castiel through the years. It's at turns humorous, romantic and angsty, and just when you think it'll end miserably, it pulls out a happy ending.

The Student Prince, by FayJay (R)

  • Oct. 4th, 2010 at 10:32 PM
Title: The Student Prince
Fandom: Merlin
Pairing: Arthur/Merlin, Lancelot/Guinevere
Categories: AU, Humor, Harlequin
Length: Super Epic (~147,000 words)
Warnings: A bit OOC in places, some bigotry, an off-camera hate crime happening to a minor character

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] pandarus
Website: Works on AO3

Summary: A Modern day Merlin AU set at the University of St Andrews, featuring teetotal kickboxers, secret wizards, magnificent bodyguards of various genders, irate fairies, imprisoned dragons, crumbling gothic architecture, arrogant princes, adorable engineering students, stolen gold, magical doorways, attempted assassination, drunken students, shaving foam fights, embarrassing mornings after, The Hammer Dance, duty, responsibility, friendship and true love...

Review:
This an amazing college AU that makes me wanna haul my Yankee ass over to England Scotland (lol geography!fail) because St. Andrews' sounds super-awesome. FayJay gives us wonderful, interesting characters doing wonderful, interesting things for 35 glorious chapters. I loved Arthur and Merlin's interactions, and how they made it work, even though they come from very different backgrounds, and have very different interests. Lancelot definitely stole the show, however, as the hopeless romantic, teetotaling Buddhist. His and Gwen's lovelorn pining after each other is both hilarious and tragic at times, and I loved watching the two finally confess their love to each other :)
