Review: "The Preventers run a DNA analysis on a boy in a hospital, and find the Lang's lost family member. Can this guy, with his moodiness and secrets, really be their son?"
My hat's off to Oedipus Tex, for finding a different way to write believable Gundam Wing fic from an outsider's perspective. The POV-character is a young girl, who isn't sure if she likes this new, taciturn brother of hers, and who wonders - in a very teenage fashion - why her parents are so determined to make this stranger want to stay, when all he does is say that he'll leave once he's eighteen. The boy's one of the Gundam pilots, of course (and it's not very hard to puzzle out which one), and he no more understands this suburbanite family than they do him.
The OCs are excellent, and I found myself sympathizing with the parents and siblings, who really aren't equipped to comprehend what their prodigal son has been up to - but who want to love and shelter him anyway. (At least, when he isn't busy driving wedges between them with his behavior.) The danger of harboring a pilot isn't forgotten, and the stand-off at the end between the pilot and his enemies is extra-suspenseful due to the family's presence.

Review: "How did Hitsugaya end up with Matsumoto as his lieutenant?"
Lieutenant is a snapshot of a relationship at its very beginning. Matsumoto and Hitsugaya are the current lieutenant and captain of the tenth division, but how did such opposites end up working together? Fanwoman's answer is a logical exploration of the few facts we do know (that Hitsugaya is a prodigy, and the youngest & newest of the modern captains, while Matsumoto is Gin's contemporary and thus has been a shinigami for much longer), tying them together in a satisfying way.
This fic is an excellent character exploration piece, as well as a patch for missing canon. Those who like Matsumoto/Hitsugaya can read that - or the future possibility thereof - into this fic, but I see it as a purely gen story... and no less interesting as such.
