Author's Summary: Time had never been the same since Kyle Reese stepped out of a fused glass crater and into the streets of Los Angeles. He had never really expected to survive his mission into the past.

Review:
There aren't really words to describe how much I enjoyed this story when I first read. In many ways, it's exactly what I look for in Terminator fan fiction. Simple and delightfully poignant, The Unwritten Future gives up snapshot glimpses into a timeline in which Kyle Reese managed to live through his fight with the Terminator and stay by Sarah's side to not only witness their son's birth but also to help prepare them both for the looming possibility of Judgement Day.

Pouncer does a marvelous job of making the story stay true to canon, even while going into a different (and decidely AU) timeline, and doesn't try to make us assume that just because Kyle lived, Judgement Day is averted. No, instead we're presented with a future that, while still very much in question, is one in which both Kyle and Sarah can hone John's skills and prepare him as a leader. It isn't exactly a 'and-they-lived-happily-ever-after' story but still, Kyle and Sarah together? Living, loving, surviving and raising John? It's good enough for me.
