Review:
There’s a lot of crack!fic in bandom, including many wing!fics, but even though this is wing!fic, I would not categorize it as crack – it treats the premise thoughtfully and weaves a really well-written story out of it. Essentially, An Inexplicable Occurrence of Angels is an AU setup where instead of Gerard getting sober and the band making it through that tough time, My Chemical Romance (a 4 person version without Frank) broke up. Fast forward a year, Gerard is clean (though it is a constant mental struggle), he and Mikey are living with their mom, and suddenly a naked tattooed guy with wings appears in their kitchen.

It’s a strangely sweet story, all about second chances and comebacks and overcoming your own fears and mistakes. Frank as an angel is oddly adorable, potty mouth and all (aren’t ratings supposed to bump up to R for this much swearing, or was that just when I was a kid?), and it’s neat to watch how his presence affects those around him. He’s not a particularly active force for change; it’s more subtle than that – he acts as a catalyst simply by being, bringing everyone together.

A sweet, quirky, and surprisingly well-done wing!fic.
