Oh my God, this vid has a *plot*. Why didn't anyone ever tell me vids could come with plots? And it's a *good* plot. Squee!
Ahem. The story is this: Bruce Wayne finds himself in love with Lois Lane and everything looks promising between them until the evil ex (Catwoman) decides she's not quite ready to let go. Blood and flashbacks and rampant ass kicking and vengence and fabulously attractive emoting people ensue.
I'm impressed with this vid on so many levels. First you have the plot (seriously, a plot! Why can't more vidders embrace this concept?), which is simple enough to come full circle in five minutes and yet fascinating enough to keep your interest the entire time. It's like a very short, but very well acted (thank you Christian Bale!) movie.
Which leads me to the second thing of beauty: the editing. Unlike most vids, which tend to remind me of music videos, Stay is designed to be a short movie, with each shot contributing to the overall plot. The end result is a beautifully concise, surprisingly powerful story.
And finally, and to my mind, the most impressive, you have the production design. I mean, you have three characters (Bale's Batman, Catwoman, and Lois) from three different canons (Batman Begins, Batman Returns, and Smallville) and *not one* of them has ever shared a second of screen time. Hell, I don't think any of the *actors* has ever shared a second of screen time. And yet, this vid is so well designed that you would never know that the clips came from a vast variety of media produced over the course of nearly two decades. And, as an extra bonus, the rendering is so perfect that even the film quality of the clips is seamless throughout the vid.
This is, far and away, my favorite vid of all time. Stunningly designed, brilliantly put together, and flawlessly executed. Simply perfect.
