Review:
Duncan's tired of getting set up on dates, so he pretends to be gay. With Methos. Seriously. Seriously!

Even if this story had sucked, I probably still would have recommended it, because there just isn't enough Harlequin!fic in Highlander. Ducan MacLeod's so damn serious, after all. And yet, Methos is just ripe for the romance novel picking. Every reaction he has in this story is awesome (especially when he finds out just what Duncan's done in the beginning) and yet at the same time, you know he's plotting his little Machiavellian heart out. Duncan, of course, never stands a chance (especially not after Joe starts chipping in). A sweet, charming story.

Bonus rec, since a kind soul was able to point me in the direction of that HL/XF crossover I was looking for.  Yay!

Title: Darkest Hour
Fandom: Highlander, with character appearances from The X-Files and Highlander: The Raven
Pairing: Duncan/Methos
Categories: Angst, X-Files mytharc/conspiracy fic (no, I'm not kidding), suspense
Length: Epic
Warnings: none

Author on LJ: n/a?
Author Website: http://seacouver.slashcity.net/killa/index.html

Review:
Post-series, Joe calls Methos to let him know that Mac has been killed, and Methos does not take it well. As in, does not take it at all. Refusing to believe that MacLeod is dead without conclusive proof (and you'd think that proof would be the body, but it didn't come out of the Quickening well at *all*), Methos goes on a mission to prove that not only is Mac alive, but he's been kidnapped by forces unknown. Mysterious abductions, global conspiracies, and the lingering hints of cigarette smoke? We all know what *that* means, don't we.

More a crossover with the X-Files universe than with the series itself (though Scully and the Gunmen make cameos and Krycek and Mulder have bit parts), Darkest Hour is steeped with tension and uncertainty, with each positive step in the search for Duncan overshadowed by the slow reveal of a massive consipracy that endangers not only all of our heroes, but the life of every Immortal and Watcher. An excellent thriller, as suspenseful as the best episodes of both series.
