Review:
Meet Team Misfit: Dr. John Sheppard, mathematician; Staff Seargent Rodney McKay, RCMP; and Dr. Carson Beckett, *not* the Chief Medical Officer. At least Laura Cadman's still a marine.

I find alternate team AUs to be rather hit or miss (mostly determined by how much I miss Teyla); fortunately this fic is a huge hit. Despite their different backgrounds, each member of the team is recognizably in character (even Rodney who has the most dramatic difference (not a lot of whining in the RCMP) but who still has his sharp tongue and even sharper mind). Other cast members who usually get short-shrift or outright bashed (*cough*Sumner*cough*) are also well done, and I loved Zelenka.

The plot is, well, not really a plot so much as a retelling of some of the big episodes from season one. It results in a choppy story, but it is interesting to see how major events from season one would change if John wasn't in charge and if canon!SGA-1 wasn't in charge of most of the missions.

If you like AUs that aren't too different from canon and/or are a fan of adventure stories, you should definitely give this fic a try.
