Author’s Summary: Arthur is a prattish Executive VP of the Pendragon Corporation with a disturbingly non-ironic love of Demotivational posters. Merlin is a tree-hugging barista with a "magic" tongue. Morgana's a peeping Tom and her breasts have superpowers. Gwen and Lancelot get married. Owain is the company bicycle. Arthur attempts to steal Merlin's affections from Will through epic DDR combat. Merlin gets drunk a lot. There is a pillow fight, and a helicopter ride, and rooftop confessions, and Arthur decides Merlin really is his destiny, whether he likes it or not.

Review:
Two Weeks Notice is based on the romantic comedy movie of the same name, the premise of which fits perfectly for Merlin and Arthur now that I think on it. Prattish executive hires activist as an assistant, proceeds to make ridiculous demands 24/7, and somehow they fall in love. Okay, so I’m not a fan of the original movie, but you’ll be happy to hear that this story is a vast improvement on the original source. Ras Elased foregoes the cheap, unfunny humor and the dependence on star power and instead focuses on developing the relationship between Arthur and Merlin and writing chemistry between them that crackles.

The characterization is spot-on. Merlin is strong and snarky; he dishes back as good as he gets with Arthur and when things take a turn for the worse, Merlin decides to remove himself – the eponymous two weeks notice – not because he’s fed up, not entirely at least, but because he realizes that there is no way the situation can be healthy long-term (a distinction I never got in the movie). Meanwhile Arthur is still a prat, but in a stupid pigtail-pulling way and later in a stupid jealous way. He has his genuinely sweet moments as well and he does, eventually, try to live up to the potential Merlin sees in him.

A genuinely humorous and endearing romantic comedy.
