Author's Summary: AU. Rodney McKay's been a loner for close to 400 years now, which is why it makes no sense when he falls hard for a Blood Bank worker named John Sheppard.

Review:
I usually try to stick to the rule about only reccing longish/epic stories, but when I first read this on sga_santa, I thought, huh, everyone needs a bit of the love in this one. Rodney, the four-hundred-year-old vampire, gets invited by his favourite student to perform (on a harpsichord!) in Santa Barbara. His car breaks down somewhere in the middle of California and he is forced to visit a Blood Bank he's never been to before. Rodney the vampire meets John the blood donor. Rodney feeds on John and something more (than simple blood-intake and love) happens.

I liked this story because there's a harpsichord involved and I've always wanted one of those...but really, what's not to like about vampire!Rodney! Okay, the truth is I don't usually like vampire-centred fanfiction (unfortunately, few people write better than Anne Rice), but this one really sucked me in. The story is quite short, but just long enough for a full-fledged plot and excellent characterization. Rodney is clueless about what's happening to him and John; John knows but doesn't realize how clueless Rodney actually is. John freaks out a little. And Rodney freaks out a little. But they do eventually get together and live happily ever after. Really. For all of eternity.
