Title: Andy
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Tony/Gibbs
Categories: angst, h/c
Length: epic (~47,000 words)
Warnings: Wall to wall angst, a dollop of hurt/comfort, and a massive side order of daddy issues.
Author on LJ:
xanthe
Website: Xanthe's Story Site
Author's Summary: When Tony receives some bad news, it forces him and Gibbs to go on an emotional journey and face up to the events of a time long past.
Review:
Tony is asked by his cousin to go visit Tony's father one last time before the old man kicks the bucket. Gibbs decides to go with Tony, but his mind keeps on taking him back to the young hustler he met seventeen years ago. A closer look into Gibb's past and psyche reveals what made Tony the man he is today.
I'm so glad that Xanthe has decided to dabble in the NCIS fandom because, OMG!, no one can write daddy issues like her. I cried my eyes out, but I had faith in Xanthe and knew that deep down, she's a sweetie -- and I was eventually rewarded with the happy ending I was looking for. That being said, there's no lack of angst or hurt in the middle for anyone looking for that sort of thing in a fic.
Daddy issues are difficult to write without making incestuous suggestions or turning it into a simple kink; I cannot praise her enough. This is Xanthe at her finest.
Highly recommended.
