Summary: Edmund betrayed his brother Peter, the future High King, by attempting to give his siblings to The White Witch, Jadis. By the prophecy and Narnian Law, he is still to be the 2nd King, but the ancient laws require punishment for his betrayal beyond a mere scolding. Aslan binds Edmund as a slave to his brother Peter, leaving the two of them to work out how Edmund's contradictory position should be handled.
Review: Before I get to reccing this story I feel it is necessary to address a few issues inherent to the Chronicles of Narnia fandom. As most of you probably know Chronicles of Narnia is a childrens' series written by a conservative christian theologian as an allegory for the Bible. Many of the fans still hold to conservative beliefs and find stories that deal with controversial issues such as homosexuality and incest insulting to both their beliefs and C. S. Lewis himself.
Keeping this in mind I ask that you all take particular care before reading this fic, as it does deal with the controversial topics of religion and homosexuality.
Now back to business:
The Bound King is a dark rewrite of the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe . It involves Jadis turning Edmund into a slave by the means of the old magic. A magic so old that Aslan cannot destroy it, only mold it to his will.
This ends up causing Edmund to become Peter's slave. A slavery that eventually leads to a sexual relationship between the brothers. I love the progression of the fic and the growth of the characters. For a slave fic this is remarkably sweet. There are dark parts to it but Peter and Edward's slave/master relationship remains almost utilitarian. They enjoy it as a part of their sexual relationship and it affects Edmund's relationship with other people, but Peter doesn't take advantage of it. Which I find very refreshing when involving a slave fic.
There are some squicky parts dealing with Jadis' physical and sexual abuse of Edmund and the incestuous relationship between brothers but despite this it is a beautiful rendered story.
