Length: Long (20,776 words)

Author Websites:
uraneia
Author's Summary: It's been years since Derek escaped from the hunters who killed his family and bound him in his human form. He travels solo, never staying in one place, keeping under the radar--until a skinny, smart-mouthed kid stows away in the back of his truck.
Four months ago Stiles's first kiss put his best friend in a coma. His dad gave him a couple hundred bucks and a hug and told him to run. By the time Stiles witnesses the cage fighter known as Wolverine take out a shotgun and its wielder with his bare hands, he's got a plan. He knows there's a school in New York for kids like him. All he has to do is get there.
OR, in which Derek is the werewolf version of Wolverine and Stiles is Rogue and the plot of X-Men progresses accordingly, with a few notable deviations.
Review:
Derek makes a damn fine Wolverine, and when Stiles tries to hide in the back of his truck, Derek thinks the kid is probably trading blow jobs for transit, but not so much, because Stiles is Rogue.
From there they head to a school in New York. You get the drift -- Teen Wolf fused with the X-Men movie from 2000. I'm not always a fan of fics based on movie plots, not when I feel like I'm just being walked through the plot with some names changed. But that's not the case here. uraneia has thought about both fandoms and the ways they can interlock rather than giving us a simple re-telling. And really, what I enjoyed was the writing. Instead of telling us things like, "Stiles had missed his dad," they write:
He doesn’t look his dad in the face right away. Stilinski tradition—they have to give each other enough time to pretend they’re not crying. Otherwise it’ll just escalate. It’s not pretty.
The dialogue is terrific, and I like Stiles as Rogue, because I think the inability to touch makes for compelling storytelling. Though, as you can imagine, Derek and Stiles do find a way. The progression of their relationship and the eventual action vs. the alpha pack (as Magneto and his allies) play out well.

Finally he looks up and meets Derek’s gaze for the first time.
It’s a little like being gut-punched, like wolfsbane, like mountain ash. Jailbait. Yeah, that assessment was pretty on the nose. A snubby little turned-up nose, to be precise, under whiskey-brown eyes that are trying to be hard. The kid is pale-skinned, too bony, marked on his face and neck with a constellation of moles, and if every trucker north of the forty-ninth parallel hasn’t already taken advantage of that mouth, Derek’s a twinkle-toed fairy.
He reaches for his best alpha voice and comes up with “It’s warmer up front.”
The kid stares at him resolutely. “I’m not gonna blow you.”
His heart doesn’t skip. Well. Maybe Derek’s a fairy after all. “Wasn’t going to ask you to. Now hurry up. I want to make the next town before midnight.”
Perhaps not surprisingly, it works.
“Oh my God heated seats,” the kid says reverently as he climbs in. “Can I?”
Derek smirks to himself. “Knock yourself out.” Kid’s ass’ll be burning in no time.
