A Go magazine runs a rumor that Touya (Akira) and Shindou (Hikaru) are gay for each other. Shindou is shocked (*shocked*, I tell you) that there might be *gasp* gay people out there and in response suggests that Touya try and nip the rumors in the bud by getting a short haircut and wearing manlier clothes. Touya does and poor Shindou nearly has a breakdown before figuring out that there might be some truth to those rumors.
This is probably my favorite (and most supported by canon -- after all, it's not like Touya and Shindou date or even socialize outside of each other) gay-realization story of any fandom. There's some freaking out, of course, but no sense of disgust or horror and both of the characters are young enough that there isn't a midlife crisis feel to the way they come to terms with their sexual orientation. Plus, humor in abundance, which is always a plus. If only the story were longer...
