Summary: Two years have passed since the final battle with the First. Giles, Dawn, Willow, and Xander have all taken up residence in London while the Slayer battles her inner demons traveling around the world. Can her Watcher convince her she's ready to come home?

Review:
Buffy is hit hard by the destruction of Sunnydale and all the stress of the previous year, then a few weeks later he father dies in a car accident. Buffy, battered and broken and blaming herself for all the deaths, decides to travel the world to try and heal.

The story starts off a bit sad but turns sweet and romantic. Beautiful imagery, the story shows you whats happening instead of simply telling you. All the characterizations very well done and at the same time a bit more mature.

Title : Autumnal Equinox
Fandom : Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing : Buffy/Giles
Categories : Angst, Drama, Romance, AU
Length :  Epic (43,875 words)
Warnings : Buffy is 17 (which is legal in California)

Author on LJ : N/A
Author Website: Blastfurnace.org

Summary:
Buffy has lived much longer than the average slayer and thus has reached a crossroads that not many have been forced to face. She must come of age and there is only one who can help her do this.

Review:
A different take on the Watcher/Slayer relationship and on Watchers in general. It's not your typical Buffy/Giles story with Buffy all of a sudden realizing Giles is a 'Man' while Giles has been pining for her. The story is Hot, Hot, Hot. Almost PWP HOT, but there is a plot involved and it's quite an interesting one.

Buffy has started having dreams about her Watcher and is suffering from flu-like symptoms that are starting to interfere with her Slaying. She finally decides to talk to Giles. The talk clears things up, but does nothing to alleviate her embarrassment or help her with the decision she has to make.

Death Brings Clarity Trilogy JK Philips (R)

Title: Death Brings Clarity Trilogy
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel
Pairing: Buffy/Giles
Categories: Angst, Drama, Romance, Action/Adventure, Family, Crossover (towards the end)
Length: Super Epic (300,000+ words)
Warnings: Kidnapping, Torture (not explicit - nothing worse than the show)

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jkphilips
Author Website: Her Stalwart Standing Fast

Summary: Post-“Gift” epic. Giles has a moment of clarity, but it’s too late. How he deals with Buffy’s death and how she comes back to him.

The Slayer is dead.

She leaves behind her friends, her sister, and her Watcher.

He should not be so surprised. He has read the Watchers’ Diaries, whose pages all end so abruptly. He has been raised and guided towards this destiny since the age of ten. And so he should have known that this moment was inevitable.

But she was not like the others. And in the end, she did not die like the others. Not cut down by her foe in battle, his Slayer sacrificed herself to save her sister and the world. And he is left alone, empty, a lifetime’s purpose lying dead atop the rubble before him.

But there is another who can understand his pain, a dark power who will not let this Slayer rest in her grave. And though he believes he has already lost everything with her death, he will learn that he still has more to lose…

Review:

This is one of my all-time favorite fics, from any fandom. It's another BtVS 'Classic'. One of those must reads that grabs you by the heart and soul and doesn't let up until it's over. It's not a total angst fest, the fic is so long that the angst is able to be spread out a bit. You get a few intense spots where the angst and drama is almost overwhelming and a long stretch where things are calm before more angst and drama breaks out. A lot like the show actually.

There is an optional NC-17 rated scene in chapter 1 'book 2', however if you prefer to keep the R rating that chapter has been written without the explicit sex scene as well.

Forgive me if I missed any warnings. It's been quite awhile since I had a chance to read this.

Death Brings Clarity Trilogy
Sorry for not getting this posted yesterday. RL, and all that. *sigh*

Title: Destiny’s Doorstep

Length: Long (36,681 words)

Summary: Buffy and Co. devise a plan to help relax the poor stressed watcher. He needs a vacation by golly! Well, they're going to give it to him. As you can imagine it turns out to be way more than was bargained for.

Review:
Another oldie but goodie in the BtVS fandom.

This one takes place shortly after the end of season 3. Buffy decides Giles needs a vacation and takes him on a camping trip. Seeing Giles out of his tweed and in a more relaxed setting Buffy begins to notice him as a man and starts to reevaluate her feelings for him.

Even with the angst and drama that appear in the middle of this, the overall story is very happy and soothing. The sexy times don't occur until the end, up to that point there's nothing higher than pg-13.
