For Me, It's You by slash4femme (NC-17)

With the holidays approaching, I’ll be going on a temporary hiatus until after the New Year (another reccer will be stepping up to the plate with new fabulous recs for everyone (so no fear of rec-withdrawals!) and I had, initially, decided to leave you all with a sprawling epic but then, at the last minute, I decided to close out this year of (my) reccing with something short, sweet, and satisfying. Happy Holidays and warm wishes for the New Year! I’ll see you all in 2010!

Review:
Despite the fact that this story is very much seated in the ‘short’ category for length, I’ll be the first to say that slash4femme has done a wonderful job of capturing what the relationship between Spock and McCoy might be like behind closed doors. There’s a gentleness between the two, a tentativeness, that is apparent right from the start, as if the two of them are trying to make this thing between them work, even if it might blow up in their faces, and not a touch of the usual ‘let’s argue until we have sex’ writing that these this pairing sometimes inspires. Not that that writing is bad (I won’t lie, I love those) but it’s nice to have something different and docile for a change, with the characters working towards building something special instead of tumbling together in the heat of passion or ‘arguing’ like they tend to do.

Though there are a few flaws in this story, they are easily overlooked and don’t detract from the tone of the fic, which is nicely mellow and satisfyingly sweet. In the end, I’d say it’s definitely worth the read, especially if you’re looking for a short or if you’d like an introduction to this particular pairing.
