I'm terribly sorry for posting this a day late. Well, I forgot what day it was -- the holidays make me more absent-minded than usual or maybe that's the lack of sleep talking. But anyway, here's a rec for you guys! Happy holidays no matter how belated it may be! :)

Title: Taming of a Sniper
Fandom: Numb3rs, The Sentinel
Pairing: Ian Edgerton/Charlie Eppes
Categories: AU, Bonding, case file, crossover, drama, first-time, friendship, hurt/comfort, romance. angst
Length: Epic (42,732)
Warnings: Shapeshifting, Sentinel Senses, Telepathic Bond

Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: Squeakerblue thothkristen

Author's Summary: Ian Edgerton, one of the biggest and baddest Wolf Sentinels, has led a lonely life. Paired with one temporary Guide after another for almost a decade and a half. He convinced himself he was a broken, unBondable Sentinel long ago, useful only as a good luck charm and training ground for Guides before they Bonded.

Charlie Eppes, one of the longest unBonded Guides in the Program and a rare Red Panda, has accepted the fact that he's never going to find his Sentinel. He decided to instead pour all his energy into helping his brother catch murderers and criminals for the FBI

When bystanders start dropping like flies in the heart of LA, Edgerton is summoned to help the Eppes brothers find the Sniper who is turning LA into his own private range.

(Honestly, I suck at summaries. Ian's a Wolf, Charlie's a Red Panda, stubborness abounds and it all works out. Come on in and enjoy the read.)

Review: While I love Numb3rs, I haven't seen The Sentinel yet but I do love the idea of Sentinels and Guides. But I love the idea of waiting your entire life for The One and when you meet that person, it's BAM! Which is what happens in this fic, this is not a spoiler, folks. It's pretty much obvious that they'd end up together from the summary alone. Still, I love how they meet, how they get to know each other -- oblivious until the last.

Title: Numb3rs 1 Through 30
Fandom: Numb3rs
Pairing: Mainly gen but canon Kim/Don
Categories: Gen, Family, Pre-Canon
Length: Long (25,289 words)
Warnings: Canon character death

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jennamajig
Author Website: N/A

Summary:
He was nine when his three-year-old brother could do his math homework. Don through the years.

Review:
This is a long, satisfying read with a great view of Don as he grows up, seemingly living in his younger brother’s shadow, and how he drifts forward, searching for his place. I love entangled and complicated sibling relationships and this one hits my buttons. The Don point of view is strong and tangible. One of the things I enjoyed about this story was the way the writing and Don’s thoughts changed as he grew older. In the beginning the author conveys the thought patterns of a nine year old boy, focused on baseball and playing. As Don matures so does the point of view.

This is a great story that weaves what we know of the characters’ back stories into a realistic and plausible pre canon.

Title: Row with Fresh Oars
Fandom: Numb3rs/Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: Colby Granger/Evan Lorne
Categories: Crossover, Drama, AU, Established Relationship
Length: Medium (13,880 words)
Warnings: None

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] bergann
Author Website: N/A

Summary:
Evan digs out his cell phone from where it had fallen out, wedged into the back of the seat. There are a total of twelve new missed calls: Nikki, Laura, Charlie, Laura, Nikki, Mitchell, Laura, Colby, Daniel, his SGC lawyer, Laura, Laura. "Shit," he says, staring at the call log as his stomach pools with dread. Something's happened to Atlantis.

Review:
Note: this story was written before DADT was actually repealed and imagines a future in which it was ultimately repealed. In this fic we get two stories. The first story is set a few years in the past, following Lorne’s dishonorable discharge and how he copes after losing Atlantis. The second story is the repeal of DADT in the near future and what implications that has for a Lorne who is now comfortable in his new life and career.

I like the Colby and Lorne dynamic here. There’s something steady and calm about them. They mesh well together, even when out of sync, especially as Lorne is confused about how he wants to move forward with his life after his discharge. Colby is solid, accepting of Lorne’s secrecy but ultimately supportive of him. There’s not a lot of drama and fire to their relationship, it’s more quiet and steady (much like the characters themselves), and I enjoyed that.

**Fic can also be found at AO3 but the archive keeps giving me error messages today so I can’t get the link

Kate finds a way to make Tony stop mooning over Gibbs.

Ian Edgerton has long been one of my favorite characters out there so when I stumbled upon this crossover, I jumped at the chance to read it. Starting with ‘I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair’, with a lonely and frustrated Tony having dinner out with Kate, this series is chockfull of humor, movie quotes, and NCIS-centric fun. Though it never really delves too deeply into Ian and Tony’s relationship – I would say it barely scratches the surface, which is a shame – I still thoroughly enjoyed what we were given, especially once the series got going and we were allowed to see just how well these two fit each other.
